Umbrella stand? Bin? Space-age sculpture disguised as utility? Yes, yes, and definitely yes.
This cylindrical beauty was designed in France by SAMP Design (Jean-René Talopp, 1977) as part of their fabulously named collection miracle — and it lives up to the drama.
Bold orange plastic with a glossy black base and trim, this piece was originally used as an umbrella stand in homes and public spaces, and sometimes doubled as a waste bin (with an optional ashtray top — not included, but we won't judge your vices).
Perfect for entryways, studios, or anywhere that needs a dose of unapologetic 70s French flair.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Scuffs and wear visible on the base and surface, consistent with age and fabulous use (see photos).
Marked: SAMP DESIGN – collection miracle – made in France
Era: 1970s
